    Hello, I'm new here so please forgive me if I am going about this post wrong. I started off having 2 trojans showing on Malwarebytes and I tried deleting them but it never worked. I have been following so many pages of things to do I can't remember everything lol, but I think it is gone now, and just wondering if someone can let me know? The main problem I had to begin with was google would not work. I went through 1) the google redirection/hijacking thread: TDS Skiller took care of one of the trojans, which was interferring with google. Then I went to the "Read and Run Me Thread" and did those steps. On the last one, #7 Windows 7 Malware Removal, I am to step 3...I am going to try to attach the logs for SUPERAntiSpyware & Malwarebytes, both came back clean. Because of things I was reading, I am confused if I need to ask someone to help now or go ahead and run the ComboFix. I was afraid to do it yet, so I have not. Should I go ahead and do that now? Thanks for any help!!!!

    Yes, attach the log from TDSSKiller, also run rootrepeal unless on 64 bit, also Combofix and MGTools, and attach logs from them.

    Also, Please also download MBRCheck to your desktop
    • Double click MBRCheck.exe to run (vista and Win 7 right click and select Run as Administrator)
    • It will show a Black screen with some information that will contain either the below line if no problem is found:
      • Done! Press ENTER to exit...
    • Or you will see more information like below if a problem is found:
      • Found non-standard or infected MBR.
      • Enter 'Y' and hit ENTER for more options, or 'N' to exit:
    • Either way, just choose to exit the program at this point since we want to see only the scan results to begin with.
    • MBRCheck will create a log named similar to MBRCheck_07.16.10_00.32.33.txt which is random based on date and time.
    • Attach this log to your next message. (See: HOW TO: Attach Items To Your Post )

    Thank you for the help! I am attaching the logs for TDSSKiller and Combo fix. I did not do rootrepeal as I have 64 bit. Off to do MGTools and MBRCheck. Did want to let you know that because ComboFix took so long (about 2 hours) my Norton Antivirus kicked back on (I set it to close for an hour) and it said it found and removed something but I was busying doing other things and just caught that it did something. I hope I didn't goof it up, thought I better let you know.

    I am so confused.... OK, I ran MGTools, it was running fine and a "MetroHijackThis" or something popped up... I had not read the part on MGTools if anything goes wrong and so I did not know I was supposed to hit accept...so I did not and it continued running. Here is the log for it. Now wondering if I should do it again or what. Will move on to MBRcheck now, hope I am not ruining anything. Thanks for your help!!!!!!

    You need to re-run TDSSKiller and have it fix these with either a delete or quarantine.
    Then re run again and attach the newest log please.

    Now we need to use ComboFix by sUBs

    • Make sure that combofix.exe that you downloaded while doing the READ & RUN ME is on your Desktop but Do not run it!
      • If it is not on your Desktop, the below will not work.
    • Also make sure you have shut down all protection software (antivirus, antispyware...etc) or they may get in the way of allowing ComboFix to run properly.
    • If ComboFix tells you it needs to update to a new version, make sure you allow it to update.
    • Open Notepad and copy/paste the text in the below quote box. Ensure you scroll down to select ALL the lines:
    Code:
    KILLALL::

    FileLook::
    C:\{060E3B41-FB0A-4D5C-A904-117A0BA77864}
    DirLook::
    c:\users\Jennifer\AppData\Roaming\TP
    File::
    c:\programdata\Microsoft\Windows\DRM\5A2F.tmp
    c:\programdata\Microsoft\Windows\DRM\5A0F.tmp
    • Save the above as CFscript.txt and make sure you save it to the same location (should be on your Desktop) as ComboFix.exe
    • At this point, you MUST EXIT ALL BROWSERS NOW before continuing!
    • You should have both the ComboFix.exe and CFScript.txt icons on your Desktop.
    • Now use your mouse to drag CFscript.txt on top of ComboFix.exe

      http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v666/sUBs/CFScriptB-4.gif

    • Follow the prompts.
    • When it finishes, a log will be produced named c:\combofix.txt
    • I will ask for this log below

    Note:

    Do not mouseclick combofix's window while it is running. That may cause it to stall.

    If after running Combofix you discover none of your programs will open up, and you recieve the following error: "Illegal operation attempted on a registry key that has been marked for deletion". Then the answer is to REBOOT the machine, and all will be corrected.

    Could you please get this: {060E3B41-FB0A-4D5C-A904-117A0BA77864} into a zipped file and attach it for me in your next post? To do this, see the below:

    Please go to start > Run and paste in the following:
    log retrievable @ C:\collect.zip

    Now run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it. (Right click and run as admin if using Vista or Windows7) Then attach the new C:\MGlogs.zip file that will be created by running this.

    Let me know of any problems you may have encountered with the above instructions and also let me know how things are running now!

    Hi Kestrel13! Thanks for info. Here is the log for TDSSkiller. I tried looking for the log when I finished the second run but could not find it, so I ran again and copied and pasted from the report, if you're wondering why the file name is off. Also, ComboFix is NOT on my desktop so what should I do now? :(

    According to the last log it was at one point : Running from: c:\users\Jennifer\Desktop\ComboFix.exe

    Download it again if it has disappeared, ensure it is on your desktop.

    Ok thanks, sorry, I assumed you meant I could not do anything if ComboFix was not on my desktop lol. I will d/l it again and go through the steps you said. It's not on my desktop though, or anywhere on the computer, I checked. Strange. Thanks for your time! Will be back to post.

    OK, I d/l ComboFix again, got it on the desktop along with did what you said about the cfscript. Combo took a long time again, (I turned off all Norton stuff), did not even touch the computer... after an hour stage 5 still had not started, I got tired and fell asleep. When I woke up the computer had restarted on it's own, I cannot find a file for combofix log anywhere on my computer. Am attaching collect.zip to this. By the way, when pc restarted it said some updates were installed from windows, and I got two things on my desktop that says desktop.ini now. Am attaching MGlogs.zip too. I'm starting to think I'm too stupid to fix this right! Should I start all over again?!

    Delete these if you are able to.

    If you are not having any other malware problems, it is time to do our final steps:
    1. We recommend you keep SUPERAntiSpyware and Malwarebytes Anti-Malware for scanning/removal of malware. Unless you purchase them, they provide no protection. They do not use any significant amount of resources ( except a little disk space ) until you run a scan.
    2. If we had you use ComboFix, uninstall ComboFix (This uninstall will only work as written if you installed ComboFix on your Desktop like we requested.)
      • Click START then RUN and enter the below into the run box and then click OK. Note the quotes are required (If we renamed it please rename it back to Combofix.exe.
      • "%userprofile%\Desktop\combofix" /uninstall
        • Notes: The space between the combofix" and the /uninstall, it must be there.
        • This will uninstall ComboFix and also reset hidden files and folders settings back to Windows defaults.
    3. Go back to step 6 of the READ ME and renable your Disk Emulation software with Defogger if you had disabled it.
    4. Any other miscellaneous tools we may have had you install or download can be uninstalled and deleted.
    5. If we had you download any registry patches like fixme.reg or fixWLK.reg (or any others), you can delete these files now.
    6. If running Vista, it is time to make sure you have reenabled UAC by double clicking on the C:\MGtools\enableUAC.reg file and allowing it to be added to the registry.
    7. Go to add/remove programs and uninstall HijackThis.
    8. Goto the C:\MGtools folder and find the MGclean.bat file. Double click on this file to run this cleanup program that will remove files and folders
      related to MGtools and some other items from our cleaning procedures.
    9. If you are running Win 7, Vista, Windows XP or Windows ME, do the below:
      • Refer to the cleaning procedures pointed to by step 7 of the READ ME
        for your Window version and see the instructions to Disable System Restore which will flush your Restore Points.
      • Then reboot and Enable System Restore to create a new clean Restore Point.
    10. After doing the above, you should work thru the below link:

    Thanks again for everything. I could not find those files on the computer to delete them. Working on #10 :) I haven't had any problems that I know of since we did the TDSSkiller, but all I knew about was Google would not work. I can tell you my computer is starting a lot faster now, which is cool! :) Thanks for your help!
