Hi. I'm just downloading the new demo from valve, and i got a warning that my system specs were inadequate. it says the minimum is a 2.2 Ghz processor (which it acknowledges mine to be). anyone else noticed this, and have there been any problems running the software?

You're running a 3400+ amd, the equivalent of just over a 3.0ghz pentium 4 (around that let's not start debates) so it should run fine.

i know my machine's getting on now, but i still expect to be running software on it for a while longer. has anyone tried it yet?

no, but i got a couple of mates that say its cr@p.. they downloaded it and all it was was a level or so of playing, real easy and the graphics were ok. my one friend did the whole item in 15mins with commentary on... tell us what you thing when you get it..

I agree. it really is more of a short tech demo than anything. i expected more. I love the fact that after all this delay, it's still bugged to hell. i hear there's an expansion pack on the way. given how long it took to finish this, it should be out sometime in 2007.

Whoooaaa a 3400+ is not getting on now, I only upgraded to a 3200+ a few months ago! Gaming is great compared to my previous pentium 3!

yeah, even a 3000+ is still kinda new and being bought for gaming...

sorry, I wasn't being funny. To be fair, i get fairly good performance, but my systems not at the forefront of newness. I spent over a grand on my pc, and i can't afford a new one for the foreseeable. That just came out wrong.

After downloading the COD2 Demo (which took longer download on DSL to than actually play)... doubt I'll even try it.

I had a bit of trouble running Lost Coast. I've got an AMD 3000, so I got a sub-par processor warning when I played.

I was disappointed at how short it was, also. However, I enjoyed it none the less. Having played DoD:S, HDR was nothing new by now. But the map was very nice, and I esspecially liked the music inside the church. If only I could find out how to play it outside HL2. :)

No did'n't mean that in the least, looks pretty much like COD. Its just that the DEMO was VERY SHORT.

i think it was long enough to do what the developers intended which was to show off their lighting technology. if they had the choice to go back, they probably wouldn't have bothered going through all that to make it.
