The reason MS is not putting out Halo2 for the Xbox and PC at the same time is because the Xbox users would get slaughtered.The Xbox is a game console, limited to its hardware. If you have an Xbox you know that Halo1 is a blast, but the aiming , weapon choice and movement is nowhere near what a loaded PC can do.

My favorite way of demonstrating this is to set up a Quake 3 game and hand someone an Xbox type controller. Then I stick their resolution at 800 x 600.
I suck at Q3 and rule them every time. I can see further and strafe/jump/aim easily.
Console controllers are made to be simple and CHEAP. Gamepads for PC's are expensive and complex. Once each type of controller is mastered the console controller shows its Nintendo roots.

If Halo is better on the Xbox then MS crippled it for the PC, which they might very well do.

 

YEah, Halo1 was originally for PC but microsoft c ancelled/pushed it back a lot because they didnt want it competing with XBOX.

 

because they wanted people to buy xbox

if they release halo 2 for xbox and pc at the same time...everyone would buy it for xbox because you can use Hi-Def, controls will be better, and you dont have to sit in front of your computer to play it....and in multi-player you will be in direct voice communications with your teammates

the people that are creating doom 3 have realized this...because it is also being realeased for xbox the same day it is realsesed for pc....mmmm....its a no brainer

 

Direct voice communications

I've been using direct voice communications for more than 6 years now....it's called Roger Wilco...so that's not a big issue...

i have a tv out card and i enjoy sitting in front of my computer to play it...someone is always wanting the tv or people are visiting so i woudln't be able to play in the rec room / living room anyways...

I will agree....sometimes having a console controller is better for the game...but i've only found one game
spiderman the movie that i did not enjoy on pc-that was a console game first....or should be a console game...even Conflct Desert Storm is totally console based....

so yeah...it just depends on the game...I can't wait to get Halo...just to try it out...

all i can say is ....if you grew up CONSOLE like with a nintento or you grew up PC starting with a 386 playing Test Drive on dos....either way...games are designed for one genre or the other....and i'd say it's hard to really compare...if i went out and bought an xbox...i would suck at using the controllers...just cause i don't like em...and i started with an Atari 2600...which used joysticks still...so even still...whenever Halo 2 comes out...HOOYAH!!

so by the way you are talking about quake 3...and doom 3...will pc players be able to play against console players?

Hell yeah! I wish there was more PC-Console games where you could fight online

 

I use both Xbox and PC, I have many friends that use both. Some defend the consoles, some defend the PC's. None say the aiming with a joystick is superior to the mouse.

If Xbox and PC players go head to head, MS will autoaim the Xbox for bettter shots so the Xbox player has a chance. MS cannot let the Xbox players get slaughtered. This may or may not happen in other games. I am sure you have noticed how loose the aiming is in the Xbox. This makes up for the lack of control from the joystick.

I am not saying the Xbox is not fun, it is amazingly good for a tired old P3 with some old nVidia graphics.

As I said before, do you have a game console controller hooked to your PC?

yeah aiming w/ a mouse is a lot better, but i like playing my xbox on a 55in hdtv, can also do it with my computer but i like consoles for thier ease if use, but some games i dont like using the like the keyboard and i have a hard time findin a computer controller i like.........i like the way the gamecube controller feels in your hand it comfy

btw halo 2 is gonna ROCK isnt it supposed to come out in november if i heard correctly ne one know expected release time?

 

I have pretty much given up on LAN parties with my computer as well. The Xbox is so much easier to carry and set up. Of course I am not bringing the big TV either.
