You can use P2P program like LimeWire to download music for free.

Sry about that Star17 and i did look at MG's couldnt find it. From limewires site it redirects you to www.download.com to download it from there. I used to use Limewire got rid of it cause I stopped listining to music, and i ran scans and never picked up anything bad from limewire. Limewire was clean on my system.

    eh? http://forums.majorgeeks.com/images/smilies/confused.gif

It may be free, but it still isn't legal....

    My choice would be:

    http://music.download.com/2001-1_32-0.html

    My favorite site is:

    http://www.acidplanet.com/

All the music here is free non-signed bands. Most of it is better then the signed bands....I've been going here since 1999 or 2000. Been through many website changes and hosts....but, it is backed by Sony.

What is so bad about it? Except that it supposedly has spyware etc in it which never turned up on my system.

I was just saying that just using limewire to download your metallica or beatles songs may be free with this program, but legal? Ha!

That was the whole reason that napster was originally shutdown. Yes, they are back up, but ya have to pay for the downloads...

You are teetering on extinction. If you post crap information like this again, I will personally ban you. If you don't like our rules, I can you find you a different forum.

www.purevolume.com is a good one where they have all kinds of bands. not sure that they are popular bands, but some are good nonetheless.

Depends what music genre your after Java?

One step I take is to look on a band own website as many do have freebie downloads of some tracks, alot of up and coming or local bands can have full albums for download ( free and legal )

on place I do find new and exciting music is http://www.epitonic.com/ its also free and legal, most bands have part albums for download so you can at least make us a compilation of sorts. ( I have found many good new bands/artists from this site and then gone and bought their CDs ) ... plus as thefool posted acidplanet, which is like epitonic.

or the final option is the sites like iTunes, Napster etc

Thanks, after finally getting spamfighter working I decided to d/l dbpoweramp audio convertor.with the knowledge before hand that I would'nt know how to use it.

Can I find instructions I can read on the ie.

I know that the real player audio music that you checked for me it out, but I have found several sites that has free midi files. I thought that with what little knowledge I have that I could convert them into somekind of files to my cp and then be able to copy from there to a cd. I see a lot of file mpeg, wave player and so on.

Don't to make this to long, my main question is would I d/l midi files to a file and then convert them to wav files?

    Thanks, have a good weekend
