hi guys thanks for your honesty. I am genuinly lookin to get a kosher copy of XP, but can i just reinstall over what i have? i have a second HD set as slave to save stuff.
or will i need to re format?
I was a student for a few years and only just started getting paid properly, no excuse i know but, i'm fed up of pc not doing what i want, when i want.
thx for any advice.

Generally speaking you should be able to just install over with out any problems as long as you make sure that you don't select the format option during the install.

Honstly as you are backing up all your important data to the slave drive ( do take time in getting everything you need backed up eg. Favorites folder, emails etc ), I would do a clean install of XP, instead of installing over the top of the old one, as you say you are having problems with that version so installing over the top ( dirty install ) you may still end up with some of the issues you have now.

This way you get a clean fresh start to work with.
