If you want to change icons on something, the new one will, normally at least, come from a pile of them in a DLL.

Does anyone know of a tutorial on how to put a single, stand alone icon in place on a program or file? On one OS I had years ago it was a simple matter of dragging the new icon (.ico) onto the old one.

Not sure I am totally understanding your question, but normally you just need to right click the icon, choose properties and click on change icon.

Which brings up the "list" from the DLL, right?

I'm asking, as I said, about a single, stand alone icon. Maybe something I created myself or something I pulled off something I saw on the web.

    Greetings, JimLL.

Instead of the 'list', click 'Browse' and steer to the icon that you wish to use.
