    Hello.
If anyone could please explain what happened here, I would greatly appreciate it.

I have had this problem before. Sometimes when I close Internet Explorer, the program does not close and I get a new page that is headed with "about:blank". Ultimately, IE was non-responsive at this point but I checked the Event Viewer and got the following error description.

    Type: Application Hang
    Category: (101)
    Event ID: 1002

Hanging application IEXPLORE.EXE, version 6.0.2800.1106, hang module hungapp, version 0.0.0.0, hang address 0x00000000.

The last time this happened, the category and event ID were the same. That website for MS was not at all helpful. If you need any more information, I will try to provide it. Thank you for your help here.

    Hello.
Okay, I know that I asked for help over two weeks ago, but I have been busier than expected and did not get to following the steps in those threads until tonight. That is why I am replying later than I expected.

Now, I am very sure that I followed all the steps accurately in "READ & RUN ME FIRST Before Asking for Support". None of the ad-ware and spy-ware programs found anything except cookies, most of which I deleted. I then downloaded and installed HijackThis!, about:buster, and HSRemove. According to the logs from about:buster, no ads or files were found. When I finished with the two about:buster scans, the first in normal and the second in safe mode, I re-started the computer and the homepage was changed. I re-set it to the usual homepage and then ran HijackThis! and now have a log from that scan. That log reflects the changed homepage which is http://hsremove.com/done.htm. However, the homepage is still the one that I returned IE to.

Unfortunately, I am now seeming to have the about:blank occurrence when I exit IE a little more now than I did before I did all this. Did I do something wrong? Other than this, everything seems to work okay. I have the logs and can post the attachments if you want. Please let me know what I should do. Thanks again.

I just want to add to this, is it okay now to power down my computer? I really have to get some much needed shut-eye and from the instructions, I am not sure if shutting it down is advisable.
