Happy 5th of July!

Happy 5th of July to everyone else who spent a large part of the 4th practicing slow breathing, very obvious yawning, and soothing touches...! :eek

From one US-based dog owner to all the other ones out there, let's all take a deep breath together and be glad that's over! Until next year, anyway.

 

Current canine occupant is only phased by very loud thunder, unlike his predecessor, who was terrified of them.

The dog. Something woke me up around midnight, and as I got out of bed to find out what it was, I discovered the dog pressed up against the side of the bed (it's too tall for her to get up onto the bed with us), whimpering and hyperventilating, and so far gone into panic that she didn't react to her own name or even her favorite treat. Poor thing!

Once she realized she wasn't alone and that her humans weren't at all worried, she eventually calmed down. That the fireworks stopped probably helped as well...
