Yesterday I went out and finally purchased something I've been wanting for a long time...Two years probably.

What is this beautiful and wonderous thing?! Why, the Boss MT-2 Metal Zone distortion pedal of course! I've been playing for about seven years now, and the only Boss pedal I've really used before was the DS-1 distortion...The DS-1 has NOTHING on this powerhouse of awesomeness.

    Info about the pedal:

Demos of the pedal in action (need flash plug-in):

Ooooh, now that is one sweet pedal indeed :)

My bassist friend has one (or rather had one..) and on guitar that thing is AWESOME :D beef to the extreme! I have no idea how it does it, but it makes the sound really muscley. Nothing at ALL like the Distortion and Overdrive pedals of the same manufacturer. They are rubbish in comparison :p

This is so true. I can't really say much about the overdrive pedal since I have used it, but I'm assuming that it only adds more of a little crunch rather than heavy distortion. The DS-1, like I said, just doesn't stack up...There's no way I can look back.

Well the Overdrive as far as I can tell is exactly the same as the DS-1, but its got an EQ with stupid names instead of "Low, Mid and High" .. like "Fat, Muscle and Quater pounder" or somthing :p I'm so glad I don't have to record the guitarist who uses that pedal any more... LOL!

    Hey goldy, quick question.

What kind of equipment do you use to record? Your computer?

    Basically, yeah.

I've got a Studer 16 channel mixer which I use to mix down to 4 subgroups, then I use the 4 channels on my sound card to record those into Cakewalk. The limiting factor here is my sound card... because its crap :p

Microphones wise .... usually a couple of Senny MD401's on the bass drum, on on the skin one inside usually, couple of black fire overheads for cymbols, a BF/MD 504 on the snare and each tom, held on a clamp a few inches away from the skin.

Vocals that all depends on what's the best mic I can get at the time. I used a Neumann one once, obviously that was absolutley fantastic... shame he couldnt sing! :p

Bass/keyboards is DI. Nuff said ;)

Guitar, depends, usually a Shure or a Senny.
