Happy Father's Day to all Dad's out there.
I hope your children appreciate all you have done and taught them, as much as I appreciate and love mine.

I've heard from my youngest daughter so far. My son and other daughter will probably remember. I'm gonna spend Father's Day doing yard work, and a bike ride later.

This has been a far cry from a happy Father's Day...as was Mother's Day too. Kids really have an uncanny habit of perfect timing when they go through "the world owes me" phase. I can't decide whether to be sad or angry......I guess I am both.

We hope everyone else is having much better weekends, and can share a bit of that joy here with those of us who would really appreciate hearing about it right now :)

it was jacobs 14th birthday as well. we went to hilo (the largest town on this island and only about 100 miles away!) had a lovely day. watched my son spend $100 on crap. wore 'real shoes' that blistered my poor feet terribly. (i can remember when i wore high heals all day, every day) ate lunch at 'arbys'....yuk. saw 'X-men, the last stand' (bet its not!!), all in all it was a good day although hubby didnt get as spoiled as he should of. my aloha to all you long suffering dads.

Was a great Fathers Day. Haven't had any contact with my son for about 12 years, until about 6 weeks ago. We're catching up and things are going well. First "Happy Fathers Day" I've heard in a long time. :)

Glad you have re-newed contact with your son, long overdue I'm sure GT. I also bet that is good medicine for you and takes your mind off the chemo a bit more.

I only just noticed this. Great news on renewing contact with your son, G.T! :)

Yeah, it's been almost as long (about 10 years since I've seen my son, but hopefully that will change). Been finding out a few pieces of information on what has/is happening with my wife. Seems he life has been screwed up by bureaucracy , even way worse than mine.

Ah well - here's to a better future for us both.:)

And to Lev. With some kids, the early years are sweet, and they get sweet again when they get older, but in between can be most frustrating.

I hope so. I didn't get to do the early sweet years with this son, as he was a young adult when I married into the family. Thank you for your encouragement GT :) It's been a very hard couple of weeks so far.

Boy do I understand. :) A couple of quotes from the timeless Samuel Clemens. Feel free to share them with your son (and be prepared to duck), or use them here as your signature for a chuckle.

You don't know how apt and funny that first quote is right now. Oh boy...I think I need to share that with father and son alike........and then make a shapr escape to the local nuclear bunker!!! lol

Thanks for making me smile GT :D

When I was fourteen years old, I was amazed at how useless and crappy my father was. By the time I turned twenty-one, I was astounded that I hadn't killed him in the last seven years.

Sorry yours wasn't a good one. Unfortunately, not all are.

    Thanks, I do what I can. It's a gift. :)

I haven't seen, nor spoken to him for over 15 YRS, which was his choice alone.

He hates all his kids, 4 of them including me, and not because we have done anything wrong, but because we have mum's genes.

He's mentally disturbed, and he not only destroyed mum's life, but his kids.

To him, divorce meant we were either on his side, or mums.

    He's a multi-millionaire, about 75 and living with a 20 something Asian mail order bride. (I hope she's spam :D )

Don't mean to depress anyone, but this should make you realise that if you have a good dad, don't take him for granted. You're very lucky.

So true. For dads and moms both. There's good and bad on both sides.
