Hard disc partitioning

I have a problem .

I cloned a 250gb hard disc to a 500gb hard disc and as expected i had to extend a partition to make use of the new space .I now have a problem in that the c: drive is ok and that displays as NTFS healthy active boot partition , the other partition is displaying as a healthy oem partition and will not let me right click it and format it as an extra drive ie d: , all it displays when i right click is help , this means i have a lot of wasted space .
Please help i need the xtra space ,

The OEM partition is the recovery partition for your computer, if this install was a factory windows install you really don't want to delete this partition as it contains the only copy of windows for that computer and can restore the computer back to factory default, it should work correctly even from a cloned drive, companies often restrict access to this partition to prevent people from deleting it accidentally which varies from computer to computer.

There are a couple of ways to achieve the same goal,you can boot a windows disk then delete the partition in windows setup,alternatively you can use an inbuilt utility called disk part, I'll post a guide rather than explaining it.

I say again though if you don't have an original windows disk or license don't delete it.

 

Many thanks for this sorted my disc out a treat .The oem opartition was extra space that had been allocated onto the end of the disc.The recovery partition is still intact and i now have a shiny new 230gb to play with as a data drive .
Always a bit nervous when playing with partitions but this was simplicity itself ,
