Hard Disk Drive 0 in BIOS

I was partitioning the HDD to reload my OS WinXP Pro on this 10+ year old computer that had 100+Viruses (in my mind the quickest way to get rid of them all 100%) it had every type of virus Trojans, worms, malware, spyware it had the works

its the Dell Inspiron 9100

during the installation it had frozen during the reboot I had left it on for 6 hours straight and nothing happened so i figured I would just start it over again

now when i go into Bios I cannot get it to go again since somehow the Primary Hard Disk isn't there anymore

a mistake I could have done, and questionable errors

- I repartitioned the HDD as a NTSC rather a FAT32? does this matter

- having so many viruses just corrupted the HDD. Thierfore i need to buy a internal HDD to replace/fix

Yet I am still able to use Bootdiscs I burned a copy of Linux on CD yay it works just fine.

so now knowing what the computer is able to do at this point I ask is thier any program out thier that will install that primary hard disk bios , partition and fix my corrupted partitioning (which is what i think happened)

 

I actually booted up with the winxp pro and i got back to the partitioning page but the HDD can only be as large as 475MB and says too small for winxp which is wierd cuz this is a 60gig large computer and had winxp running before..... this lappy that i'm fixing for a friend is confusing me
