hard disk recognition after reinstall

    Backed up items to keep onto D drive prior to fresh xp installation on C. D drive is shown but when I try to explore box come s up saying drive is not formatted do I want to do it now. How do I get round this any help much appreciated

    Here's a couple of threads I started some time ago when I had a similar problem with an external drive. I'm assuming that your drive is an internal drive, but it doesn't matter. Internal or external, they act more-or-less the same. Anyway- read the stuff in these threads and I'm sure you'll make some progress.....

    Thanks for the suggestions dbl have read your threads and will try them out when time allows. I have read some other interesting threads one suggested disconecting the drive, boot up turn off reconect and then boot up again. Havent tried this yet. Possibly more interesting was a suggestion that if the second hard drive had been disconected prior to reinstall on C the second drive would be recognized on reconnection. Have you any thoughts or experience on these possibilitys.
