Look on the HDDs there will be pictures showing you how to set up the jumpers.

Make the 4 gig one the master and place it on the end connector. Place the new HDD on the middle connector as a slave.

Alternatively make the 80 gig one a master and install an OS on it. Then, and only then, put your 4 gig one in as a slave.

Do you have windows installed on the 80 gig hard drive?

BTW to boot from a disk it has to be master. This can be done by setting the jumper correctly.

Try booting just with your 80 gig and install windows on it if you haven't already.
Then hook up your 4 gig one as a slave and transfer the data over.

I think you should look in the BIOS at the IDE settings, make sure it's on auto detect.

Are you sure the 4 gig one is configured properly as a slave?

There are jumpers on the back and if you look on the drive itself you can see a picture that shows you how to do it. It may even be a small picture on the back of the drive next to the jumper.
When you've set the jumper correctly place it on the middle connector and it should work.

Remove the Jumper completely from the drive that you wish to configure as Slave
