Hi. I have a 250gig HDD that runs in either PIO mode. I've tried switching out 80 conductor ribbons of diff lengths. I went back to a 40 ribbon.

The odd time after uninstalling the primary channel, it will goto DMA-2 with teh 40 ribbon.

I also experience many BSOD, weird noises, and hang ups when the 250gig (also a fairly new drive) is by itself.

Anyway, as soon as I hook up an old slave drive, I can get it the 250gig to DMA-6 and the old drive to DMA-5 as reported by windows.

How can I get the DMA-6 with just the 250gig set up as master? Because when it has the slave hooked up, it runs smooth and sweet, no noises.

Here's is my HDD with the jumper settings. http://www.seagate.com/staticfiles/maxtor/en_us/documentation/quick_specs/dm10_ata_quickspecs.pdf

I currently have the 250gig setup as master with the jumper on beside the ribbon and the old 40gig setup as a slave.

    Thanks for any help.
