hard drive fprmat

did a hard drive format using the windows formatting tool re installed windows 7 after installing I checked the hard drive and found that it had loaded two lots of windows can anyone recommend software so I can erase all the files and put windows back on to a clean hard drive.daveone

 

Microsoft doesn't recommend it but, it is possible to install 2 versions of Windows on 1 partition. Open Computer from the Start Menu, right-click C drive and click Format. DON't click OK. Look at the snapshot and click Formatting disks and drives FAQ. After you re-formatted the HDD as per the instructions, install Windows 7.

 

I don't use the Windows formatting tool for wiping the drive because I've found that remnants of the previous Windows installation are left behind and I've had problems because of this.

Instead, I use the MiniTool Partition Wizard bootable CD to wipe the drive first, then format and proceed with installation. Do you have a Recovery partition on the drive?

 

if you plan to wipe all the files on hard disk, you can use partition software(free version). This software is able to help you wipe data permanently. Be careful, if you have wiped files with software, you are't allowed to recover them by any recovery software.

i do not have a recovery partion on my drive but i have downloaded the tool and i hope to use it thanks very much it will take me some time to sort but i will sort it out with this tool.thanks again daveone
