I'm fairly sure I downloaded a virus/trojan. I got a free game from download.com, clicked the icon to play and my system went to the blue screen of death.

I would just repair/reinstall windows from the boot from CD screen but my system tells me I have no harddrive.

How do I convince my system I have a hard drive so I can reinstall/repair windows?

    Any help is appreciated!

Doubt that a virus would of been in a file from Download.com (only one that is known to date that was quickly removed from their database). Can you boot into Safe mode? How long have you had the computer? It is possible that the drive died, but see if you can get into the Bios to verify the fact that the Hard drive is still seen by the Bios, and if it is, then attempt to boot into Safe mode.

If the statement that you are getting is something in the lines of "System missing", then yes you can attempt a Repair, by booting with the XP CD, then go all the way until you get to the Install OS section, and press R for repair.
