I'll make it quick, My AthlonXP 1800 system died, and i moved my 3 new SATA hard drives to a backup Pentium3 800 machine. The drives were attached using a pci sata controller card and worked flawlessly. I am using the same controller in the new machine. The disks are detected, show all files and otherwise seem fine, but a lot of executables (installers and such) don't work, some movie files don't play and a lot of JPG pictures appear warped (showing half of one picture, half of next picture - as if the data read were misaligned).

The probability of all 3 new drives failing is quite small, what could be wrong? Could moving drives from a semi-modern AMD system to an older Pentium really cause weird errors?

Thanks a lot for any hints/help
