Hard drive isolation

I like many run multiple HD's in both towers, problem is as we all know if one gets whacked with a but it hits both. I am thinking about a HD switch, not one to switch between cables but one in the power cable. Has anyone tried this? I am thinking a two position switch to be able to kill lower to either.

I'm not sure how successful you will be in finding a switch. This was popular back in the 90's. Whoa, they appear to be very expensive http://www.industechnologies.com/collections/drive-switch-kits
I know the consumer device was not that expensive. It may have been called a Trios made by Romtec. Found a model # RX-910T6

Now the hardware points more to a "toaster-like" device where you hot swap SATA drives.

Hi thanks for the response, I would need two units one Sata and one IDE. I like the look of the Romtec, what I don't like is the power being daisy chained. No sense having a drive running while not in use, so far what I am finding is setup that way. That what has me thinking of a way to kill the power to the drive.

Bump! Any thoughts on just killing the power to the unused drive? No power no spin and no problems with a bug jumping from one to another.
