hard drive issues?

So I was on my computer, like normal, when all of a sudden it froze and a blue screen popped up. The stop error was 0x00000024, which apparently relates to the ntfs.sys file. So i did a little drive error checking, and these things were fixed (during the "CHKDSK is verifying file data stage [4 of 5]):

Windows replaced bad clusters in file 29466
of name \SYSTEM~1\_RESTO~1\RP35\A00094.cat

Windows replaced bad clusters in file 31181
or name \WINDOWS\$NTUSER~1\LUNA~1.MSS

Windows replaced bad clusters in file 40178
of name \SYSTEM~1\_RESTO~1\RP28\snapshot\_RO17D~1

Windows replaced bad clusters in file 46353
of name \SYSTEM~1\_RESTO~1\RP64\A0025782.RDB

Windows replaced bad clusters in file 58937
of name \SYSTEM~1\_RESTO~1\RP64\A0025850.RDB


All the other steps of error-checking went down without a hitch. Problems like this have existed in the past, and it must be a software problem, because I reinstalled Windows XP not too long ago to try and fix this. Before this most recent freeze, my computer froze while scanning my computer (with AVG free), burning a DVD, and transferring files to a 500GB external HD (over a E-SATA cable). What could be causing this?

Hi Spec,

Hard Drive Fixers work by moveing the data out of bad sectors/clusters into good ones and locking out the bad ones. This is usually a sign that the drive is going bad. Run the test every few days for awhile. More bad clusters will indicate that the drive is going.
