    Hi,

I had couple of times blue screen pop up on my laptop and get a failed system diagnostic (see attached pic). The laptop is HP with 64 bit operating system with Intel core processor i7. Welcome any input and if I need to replace the hard drive them any recommendation of compatible version.

I forgot to mention that I haven't been able to update my laptop as my IT person has configured that updates could only be done by system administrator and he is no longer with the company or existence of company. Would love to know how to unlock this so I can update the computer.

Smart report- Yes- hard drive will fail soon, needs replacing.
You should be able to re-install on a new hard drive, unless the IT person used a bios password.
If you can get into the bios, you might be able to see if he has.
I would copy my data off, as soon as possible, and use something like balarc advisor to get the COA'S to windows, and office, etc:

Thanks! I was thinking that hard drive needs to be replaced. I am able to get into bios but unable to highlight to create backup image of the system bios...and wondering if using the balarc advisor to be the best choice.

Additionally, is there was to know which harddrive would be the best compatible and potential options to buy from for a good cost.

You do not need to create image of bios- But if you make backup image of the hard drive, you will be stuck with the IT admin problem.
You probably need the COA 's as I said, to re-install, and Balarc advisor will give you these, and you should print out the advisor page(s)
This means you will also need the disks for Windows, and office, if you re-install.
If you can make the image, you will be best off, in case you have problems in re-installing.
Save any Data before doing anything to usb's, or, disks.

Thanks! I have used Balarc advisor and have the COA, unfortunatelt- I don't have the disks for windows or office as our IT department and colleagues probably took or not sure where it is.... I tried to back up the laptop by saving some files and even outlook pst files but not successful. I also tried to make the image but having erros when I tried to back it up on the portable hard drive. Any guidance on overcoming these issues and making backup or image prior to installing a new hard drive?

Yu can download windows and office iso files from here -so if you get the coa's using Balarc (you may have to click on the link within Balarc Advisor to get office coa, if you cannot see it.

You should be able to burn to dvd, -
    http://www.majorgeeks.com/mg/sortname/burning_tools.html - I have often used http://www.majorgeeks.com/files/details/cdburnerxp.html
Also, if you wish , For a bootable W7 usb, you can use iso2usb to burn to usb---- http://www.isotousb.com/ Just remember to tick the make bootable box.
If you have another computer, y
ou could then connect the old hard drive via an external enclosure, like this
    https://www.amazon.co.uk/TeckNet-Ex...&sr=8-10&keywords=2.5"+usb+external+enclosure

and try to get your data off it.
