hard drive keeps spinnig up

    hi i hope one of you guys can help out .every time i open my computer to access one of my hard drives the hard drive starts to spin up makes a drr drr
    sound and everting works real slow it will not turn off from task manager i have to reboot with the reset button .any ideas anyone please

    Sounds like she's starting to go!
    How old is it? You might want to get the valuable files copied to another hard drive or cds...

    Go to the manufacturer's website. There is probably a drive diagnostic utility listed there. Before you do anything though, back up your data as suggested earlier. Bazza

    Do a google search on the make and model of your drive. This may turn up diagnostics, solutions, also. Baz

    Have you enabled power saving mode for the device?
    This can happen if the problem occurs only after some period of inactivity.
