Ok so my computer is a bit old its a 1.8 ghz from like 6 years ago ..But anyways I went out and bought a 500gb hard drive and it dosen't seem to want to work correctly in my computer ..When I formatted the drive it didn't even recognize the entire drive only like 136gb of the total drive space. Also the computer don't boot up right since I put this drive in, sometimes it wont boot up at all. So I took out the big drive and put a 80gb in there and so far its working fine... thats great and all but I want the 500gb one in there ..anyone know why i'd be having this problem? I really don't know much about computers so a detailed explanation would be great..

    Thanks Alot!

It could be several things.... older copies of Windows XP (SP1 and earlier) will not see drives over 136gb correctly. It could also be that your BIOS has a limit on hard drive size. Go into the BIOS and see if the HD size is fully recognized. If not, go to your MB maker's web site for a possible BIOS upgrade. If the BIOS doesn't have an upgrade, you can always partition the drive into 4 partitions of 125gb each (actually, they'd be about 116gb to 120gb after parities and such)....
