hard drive questions

    I just purchased a hp laptop and there are 3 hard drives. 1 is for recovery 2 is for HP tools and the third is for all other programs and files. The questions are thie... 1 are all three on the same hard drive and partitioned or are there 3 hard drives. 2 what is the HP tools hard drive for. And thirdly how do i use an external hard drive to hold movies that play on Real player. Thanks for your time in advanced.

    If you go Disk Management, does all 3 show on one drive (in the same line) or are they stacked above each other?

    Hi

    Its verly likely you only have one HDD that has been partitioned into three, as its comon for laptop makers to do this mainly in one aspect as one partition holds the recovery option to the laptop.

    Recovery options are HERE (for background reading)

    HP Tools if I rememver is a partition with tools to test your hardware out in case of issues.

    What are all the partition sizes?

    As for the external HDD to play real player videos, then you should just be able to store said videos or media on that HDD then when its connected to your laptop open up the external HDD and double click the media files, then they will open if you have real player installed on your laptop.

    The harddrive are on one line as follows local disk (c) 185 of 275...recovery (d) 3.13 of 21.8 and hp tools 88.7 mb of 97.0 and I have not tried to use ext, hd yet for movies but I will try the issue i think i will run into is my videos load automaticcly real player on c drive.

    With all 3 on one line, almost certain to be only 1 HDD.
