laptop computer not booting. will not go into safe mode.

i want to save the data. I have vista desktop and am using blacX USB hard drive enclosure.

when i connect USB to my desktop the computer assigns the laptop HDD drive letters(F: and G:), but I cannot access either drive.

computer management has them listed as follows:

    (F:) Layout=simple, Type=basic, File System=NTFS, Status=Healthy(primary partition), Capacity=10GB, Free Space=9.92GB, %Free=99%

    (G:) Layout=simple, Type=basic, File System=RAW, Status=Healthy(Active, primary partition), Capacity=220.3GB, Free Space=220.3GB, %Free=100%

I am not sure what to determine from here. Is there something I am supposed to do to these drives to make them readable? Laptop was running Vista as well.

Is there software I can use to recover the data?

    Thanks!

F is your hidden recovery partition. If you note G says system=RAW that means nothing can be seen on it. Note the free space is the entire capacity of the partition. This might indicate a problem with the partition table; perhaps that can be repaired.

There are recovery programs listed at MajorGeeks.
    Here's the list:

I've heard good things about PC Inspector File Recovery
    http://www.pcinspector.de/Sites/file_recovery/info.htm?language=1
which doesn't appear in that list.

    Another I read about
    http://www.easeus.com/datarecoverywizard/

Some other people might have recommendations as to what products to try.
