Hard Drive Recovery Power Surge

    My brother-in-law has suffered a power surge and is needing help recovering his data. I suggested a Linux Live CD and see if he can retrieve that way. He does not need the XP as he can reinstall, he needs some SQL files in My Documents.

    Any suggestions?

    I would put the drive in another computer as a slave, or use an external adapter and copy the needed files ASAP. Then evaluate the hard drive's health.
