hard drive trouble

a few days ago i disconnected my secondary hard drive, my computer was off during the removal so i didny think there would be a problem, but when i re connected the hard drive and turned on the computer one of the drives (the secodary drive i would think) started clicking like the disc was spinning back and forward then my computer couldnt detect any hard drives and it came up with a hard drive error asking me to put the system disc in. So i restarted again and went in to bios then selected boot it took a while for it to load but found both my hard drives so i selected exit and windows booted up perfectly, but i have to go through this process 3 mabe 4 times everytime i switch my computer back on. Help

 

Hi. After powering everything down, you might try removing and then reseating the connectors to the secondary drive. If that doesn't do it, you might try replacing the cable to the secondary drive with a new one (only with power off). If that fails, you may find you have a bad hard drive. I had a laptop drive go south on me once, and it started making an occasional clicking sound just before it went south. Good night and good luck.

 

If you have access to another PC, try to boot the secondary hard drive as a slave in another computer and see if it recognizes it. That way you may find out if the problem is the drive or something else in your computer.
