    Hello

I have a choice of a WD internal HDD, refurbished by manufacturer for $32 or a new Toshiba for $42 .

How do you feel about factory refurbished vs. new here?

A $5 warranty gives me two years and 30 day return.

It depends what the exact specifications of each are.

The problem with "factory refurbished" is you have no idea what was wrong initially. Often, it was nothing - simply user error. Other times, it could be something major.

I agree with Max and it really depends on the specs. In any case, I would opt for the 2-year warranty option.

Thanks for your opinions. I will get new with the warranty to be sure.
I have macrium images and hope it is the same as a regular recovery after installing the hard drive.
I usually just boot off the macrium stick.

Long story short I have a WD $39 1 T installed and have defaulted the BIOS and recovered Macrium. No noise.
I cannot thank you all enough for all your kind advice.
