Hi Guys its Me again, sorry for the long absence. Well I have a problem with the SATA2 port on my Mobo and a hard drive that is crashed. At first the system would not start up after switching the drives to good ports it started up but got a ton of blue screens. Then it evened out to few blue screens as long as the system is not stressed by heat or whatever (lots of programs or services??)

Here are some specs for the system:
GA-8i945P-G mobo with Bios updated to f11 current.
    Hard drives:
    1. Seagate SATA2 500 GB with OS (win XP home SP2) ST3500320AS
    2. Seagate SATA1 80 GB with page file and backups. ST380817AS
    3. Western Digital SATA2 160 GB {BAD DRIVE} WD1600JS-00MHBO
    4. (2) Western Digital IDE 160 GB Extra drives for backups or RAID 0 setup
    WD1600JB-00REAO
    Memory 1024MB
    Nvidia 8800GTS OC w 640MB onboard RAM (158.22 driver for 3DMark06).
    Onboard sound
    P4 operating at 3.0 GHz

Basically the problems started after I changed the setup and was reinstalling and running benchmarks. I guess the one of two things happened. 1. The machine was left on on a warm day and overheated the south bridge (due to the hot running 8800GTS). This may have damaged the drive as well?? I dont know .. 2. Hard drive just shorted out and took one port out with it. due to the fact that one port does not function even after a reinstall. The other ports work (3) AFAIKnow.

The problem is where do I go from here?
Do I continue running the south bridge with drives on it?? Or do I reinstall on to the IDE drives on the IDE controllers and Disable the SATA controller(to be safe)? I have one IDE for CD DVD and could put one there and one on the IDE RAID controller from ITE. Or I could go back to a RAID 0 setup which will help to overcome the IDE slow access issues for gaming.

Or just pony up 150.00 for a new mobo with a heatsink on the south bridge this time?

I was thinking of running the debug program from MS but I am trying to figure it out first and connecting two machines is a challenge for me (I tried crossover which is not what was recomended). The purpose here is to verify any and all problems that cause BLUE screens of death

Thanks for any and all advice.

OK The test seemed to be a success and the results follow..:cool

    P-4 (0.09) 3015 MHz
    L-1: cache 16k 21081 MB/s
    L-2: cache 2048k 16384 MB/s
    memory:1024M 2944MB/s
    chipset: intel i945P/G (ECC: Disabled)-FSB:201MHz -type:DDRII
    settings: RAM:268MHz(DDR 536)/CAS:3-3-3-8 Dual Channel(Interleaved)

Now these are the results which I probably should have posted only(below). But I wanted to show the total report to be complete.

    WallT/7:12:06 Cached/1024 RsvdMem/84M MemMap/e820-Std Cache/on ECC/off Test/Std Pass/23 Errors/0 ECCerrors/blank

seems the blue screens are non apparenet unless i use the HD or the bad port at this time and also the PC gets really laggy and screen freezes temporarily (in GAME)FYI.

Hi sorry for the poor report that seems to have errors.

I tried the print screen but it did not want to paste after reboot. So I had to manually type it all.

Referring to the final results section I listed the section and the result after a / like so section/results. so the 23 refers to the number of passes(let it run all night ). So the num of passes equals 23 and errors equals 0. What abothers me is the ECC is disabled or not available on my machine.
