hardward installation wizard problems

I have been trying to update my chipset drivers for mobo, and everytime that i have tried, I get a message that the microsoft hardware installation wizard is active and that when it is complete i can install the drivers, but it never completes, I am not sure what it is trying to install. I havent installed any new hardware.

asus crosshair mobo
amd 5200+
2 gb crucial ballistix
sb xfi xtreme music
evga 8800 gts video card 640 mb
dvd drive lite on
dvd burner plextor

Any help would be much appreciated

 

Look in your device manager; the device that Windows is trying to install should have a yellow '?' next to it. Locate the proper driver for that device and install it, then proceed with the chipset install....
