I need to check the current Hardware to see if any hardware on my laptop has any damage to it, can anyone recommend some good freeware for this checkup! I had recently run into rain problem with my laptop in my back pack and want to run a full diagnostic to make sure all hardware components are working. I want to know if something is not showing up visually to me that might be broken so I can get it replaced! Would I know if some circuits on the mother board were fried, any help in this check up is much appreciated! The back pack was closed it was a light drizzle I ask because afterward my battery appears to have died! A lot people say I can only tell hardware damage by opening my laptop, unfortunately I find it hard to get to mother board on this one and find it only easy to get to memory and Hard drive!

With all the thousands of components in your Laptop thats a bit of a tall order, what I suggest is that seeing that you have not fired it up is to leave in a warm room for 24/48 hours taking off memory and HD covers and lifting the Lid/Screen as you say that it was only a drizzle and not a deluge that has fallen upon it. Recharge the battery and fire it up. The danger comes when trying to start it soaking wet which you say you have not done.

The Battery is dead no activity but the computer starts plugged in AC outlet a X appears Icon over the battery when computer starts no other problems appear except that HP advisor does not work!

I can't get HP advisor to work I am wondering what this error message means could this be a hardware issue? How can I know?

    A sidenote:
You should never try to immediately start an electronical device after it's wet..You will most certainly fry something. Leave it dry for a day or 2 them try it. If its something small like a USB Thumb Drive( pop the case off and throw it in a bag of rice)
