    Hi again,

I posted a few days ago about a problem with my PC, the rebooting and poor performance, but had stated that my PC may be a Duron.

I now know that my PC is an Athlon 2.4 GHz (Runs at about 1.9 thougth) and has 2 banks of 512 MB RAM. I know that the first bank of RAM has errors (172 in basic memory test) also.

The main problems I've had are:
    1. The Asus diagnostic always indicated overheating (yet even when the PC had only just been turned on)
    2. The PC takes alot of time in some tasks
    3. The PC takes a long time to shut down (though this has stopped bizarrely recently)
    4. The PC often restarts for no reason (this happens at any time, even when the PC is loading, or when the PC has been idle)
    5. MIDI problems (May be due to external soundcard, conflicting with the onboard, though this is set to off in BIOS)

These problems have all continued even after reformatting etc, so I presume the problem is hardware related.

If anyone could help, it would be very much appreciated,

    Thanks,

    Mike

    The Spec is:

    AMD Athlon, 2.4 GHz Processor
    2 x 512Mb Ram
    120Gb Hard Drive
Windows 2000 Professional at the moment (Problems have occurred with different OS too)
    Soundblaster Audigy Platinum Soundcard
