Please put a reply with all the hardware that you can contribute to tactical folding, the hours per day you can run it, and an average time per frame for that machine. And a hours per day, if its not 24/7.

3.2 P-4 800 fsb 1 gig memory with hyperthreading which I have turned off.
Glenn over at outcasts claims that enableing hyperthreading and running two units gains %30 percent production. I havn't done it but I don't see it. How are you guys handleing hyperthreading?

Well, its doesn't matter about the source, if its a performance gain its worth investigating!

As an aside: If you can get more machines to the cause, even if only temporarily, list them here too. That way I can get an idea of what our maximum "bust" output might be.

 

I can't get any more machines to the cause right now but I'd be willing to try the double unit on my P-4 if you want

 

See if its feasible. Hopefully it is, which is good since a few of us have P4's with HT, if we could get that 30% boost that would be excelent, worth sharing with everyone.

 

Got your PM goldie figured I'd answer here so all could see.
I wrote down a bunch of bench marks though at the moment I can't find them. I started the double run glenn walked me through it and all is well. The tinker I had running was doing frames in 7 minutes with the hyper-threading on running two units it is doing a frame in 9 minutes. So I gained 2 minutes a frame but it's also doing another unit at the same time. If that continues to hold true then there is definitly a gain by running two units.
There is a trick to running 2 units by the way. I tried two units with hyperthreading off and got no gains. Doing it this way though early in the game it looks good. Will keep all posted.

Anybody running a p1282_A21nat_d13_99phi It's only worth 71 points I think it was and it's running at 13 and a half minutes a frame (100 frames) the tinker is still running at 9 minutes a frame (400 frames).

 

I knew there was something, it's the -local command




Create a folder on your desktop name it folding2 ,now DL the 5.02 console directly to the folder,,,after down load DO NOT launch the program,,open your new folder,(FOLDING2),on the red gear right click and create shortcut..a shortcut will appear in the folder .now right click on the shortcut and alter the target ,,,place a space and the -local flag in place will look like this,,,in the target


"C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\Desktop\folding2\FAH502-Console.exe" -local

There must be a space betwene the command line and the flag !!!


Save changes,,,,


Now launch the program using the shortcut you have created and will take you through the config process user name team etc etc,,make sure to make it machine 2-8 NOT 1 ,,this way the local flag reads only from the folder, and the computer does not get confused with machine 1 and 1 entry.



After the config,,will auto DL a secound run presto 2 instances on a HT rig !!!

You MUST enable HT for both instances to share the processor,,,Glenn

now y'all remember i'm just a wannabe... this is what i think i have computer wise...2.5ghz celeron processor, 256 mb DDR SDRAM memory, 80gb ultraDMA hd. what else do you need to know and where do i find it to tell you? oh... waiting to uninstall 5.03 graphic ed. for 5.02 console edition. am on broadband also.

 

i access my client files on the graphical ed. i use notepad. this is what i have and am able to make changes to.... do i really need to switch to consol edition?

You can fiddle with that, and yes I would go to the console version for SURE. It will speed things up quite a lot.

Rig #3 is gone as was my daughters which she sold,but to be replaced w/Athlon 1,000MHz as soon as it arrives from Ohio.

on my new rig.. this thing flies compared to my old one! first thing i did after security and updates was download folding! look out MA here i come!
