with computer turned off, and unplugged from mains, and touch the framework of the computer to earth yourself , before opening the pc, if you do not have an earth wrist strap.Keep touching a radiator, or house piping . Then remove the side of your pc,and
Check the IDEleads (the wide ones going to the hard drive(s)are connected securely- ease off a little and push back on to the hard drive.Be careful not to disturb other cables.
If you then put the side back on mains lead, and try starting, again.
When starting , listen for a clicking sound.
Come back and with luck, someone else will be around to help, as I am ggoing offline , now.

This is a bios setup prompt. Do you have two physical hard disks in this machine?

If so, the first thing to ensure is that any hard disk jumpers are set correctly.

If you have an 80 conductor/40 pin IDE cable, and are attempting to use CS (Cable Select), both drives must be jumpered as CS, with your MASTER disk on the end of the cable, and the SLAVE disk on the middle connector.

If you're using MASTER and SLAVE jumper positions, ensure the jumpers on the respective hard disks are set correctly. In this case, physical drive position on the cable does not matter.

Once jumpers are set correctly, the bios should "see" the respective hard disks, and set the hard disk parameters accordingly. (Given that the motherboard "accepts" hard disks of the size you have. Older motherboards had limitations on certain hard disk sizes.)

If all your jumpers are correctly set, simply enter the setup utility (F2) and let the machine setup the drives.
