Has anyone looked at Light Point Web security sofstware?

The Wall Street Journal has written about this new malware protection program.

"Light Point Web moves the dangerous task of executing web content off of your computer, and onto a single-use virtual machine. None of the website’s code ever reaches your computer, only an interactive image of the website. When you finish browsing, the virtual machine is destroyed, along with any malware it may have been exposed to during use."

Is this anywhere near as wonderful as they claim? They make it sound like a silver bullet for web surfing if you like going into bad neighborhoods.

Hmm never heard of it.First for me 6$ a month or 60$ a year lol.

Only supports Xp,vista,7 and only supported browsers are only firefox.

I would not recommend it.

 

Hi there! This is Beau Adkins, one of the cofounders of Light Point Security. I saw this thread, and thought I should clarify our service and answer questions.

Our product is a lightweight browser add-on that in essence turns your web browser into a thin client. Its not sandbox technology, its a fully virtualized remote displayed browser.

We run custom browsers in the cloud that are contained within virtual machines. You can view and control the browser on the server using your standard browser. Each user gets their own virtual machine and it only exists for the duration of the browsing session. None of the website content for the sites you visit ever reach your computer.

We currently only support Firefox, but we are working on adding support to Internet Explorer now.
