I'm having a strange problem with my keyboard. A couple days ago it just quit working. I bought a new one and it didn't work either. I ran the all in one fix software and it started typing again but sometimes it would type a random Character when I click the space bar or there'd be a lag the the letters I typed would appear but with missing letters. I have found that going to the device manager there were 2 keyboard drivers so I uninstalled on of them. That temporarily fixes the problem but after awhile I have to reboot. Then the second driver appears again and I have to start all over. Is there a way to delete this extra driver altogether?

I would uninstall both drivers and then restart.

Thanks guys, I've tied both suggestions and it hasn't worked. To add more info the new keyboard is a logitech wireless the old one was a USB. Sometimes when it refuses to type it'll fix itself after several minutes and start working again.

I assume you have fresh batteries in the wireless keyboard?

You might also try a different USB port.

And I would try to uninstall both drivers again. Only this time, once uninstalled, do a "cold" reboot. By “cold”, I mean shut down the computer and flip the master power switch on the back of the power supply (if your supply has one) to off or unplug the power supply from the wall for about 15 seconds. Then turn on or reconnect power and boot up and see what happens. By totally removing power, you disable the +5Vsb standby voltage all ATX Form Factor power supplies are required to supply whenever the power supply is plugged into the wall and (if applicable) the master power switch is set to on. This standby voltage is distributed throughout several points on the motherboard, including RAM for faster boots and USB ports to keep alive several features, including “wake on keyboard” and “wake on mouse”. A cold reboot ensures any device settings that may be held by the standby voltage are released.

See if you can't get another wired keyboard from someplace like a thrift store just for testing. If a second usb keyboard is also having issues, my bets are all your keyboards are fine and it's either a software issue or a hardware one somewhere in the usb.

That seems to have been the trick I was needing. I should have thought of it myself but I didn't so thank you and everyone else who replied.

I am glad you got it going but you were not specific so it is not much help to anyone with the same problem.

    What was the trick?

Fresh batteries? Different USB port? Or a cold reboot?

Yes, you did give several suggestions, the cold reboot is what helped.

Thanks for clarifying. FTR, I have found a cold reboot often works for many stubborn driver issues. So it is something to remember.

In some rare cases (like some stubborn graphics issues), I have found it necessary to go to even further extremes and shutdown, unplug and swap in a totally different card from a different GPU provider. That is, if originally NVIDIA, swap in a AMD. If originally AMD, swap in an NVIDIA card. This use of a different maker forces a total driver rewrite thus a reset of all settings and Registry entries - including any that may have been corrupt causing your original problem.

Once the 2nd card is working, repeat the process and re-install the first card, totally resetting all the settings and Registry entries once again.

I was too wondering what exactly worked. And great info on the graphics issues. I'll try that if I ever run into that with a video card.
