You know you can drive a car even if you aren't a mechanic. That is kind of the way it has been for me and email. I use it day in and day out. I have had only two ISP's over the years and each set up my email addresses for me and I just used them. I had one address for close friends and family and another I used for everything else - same thing for my wife. I live out in the country so I am on dial up. I have been having problems, over the last few months, especially on weekends getting my emails. . .just can't find the server. I called about it today and my ISP said they were not experiencing any problems (but a few hours later I started getting them. . .anything from 6Saturday morning till after 2 pm today was lost however) but they wanted to let me know they were dropping email service and I would have to get it elsewhere. So where is the best place to go and how do I go about setting it up. In other words is there some place that rates the different services and some place that tells how to go about setting up email addresses? It will take several days to go to every web site to change my email address and I am sure I will still miss some and have problems down the road, so I really hate to have to change my address more than I have to. It is about as bad as having to change you snail mail address. I have lived in this same house for over 30 years and have not moved it one inch -- yet I have changed addresses 4 times over the years, thanks to the post office.

    Appreciatge any help.

I agree gmail is good and not tied to any ISP so you can give it out, change your ISP as much as you want and friends and family still have your email.....6Gb of starge capacity as well.

I use yahoo as well, and it also lets you send and receive from other accounts as well ( i left hotmail cause it took away that free service)

Yahoo fell in the bad habit a few years ago of editing mail. Also that signature advertising Yahoo on every mail is very annoying. Gmail's spam filtering is top notch where even companies are moving their mail to Gmail.

My guess is fixer is using Outlook Express. Gmail accomodates POP mail, so Outlook Express could still be used. Yahoo!'s free email account does not do this.
