have to reboot for internet when monitor goes off

This is another trivial problem but it drives me nuts; I Searched thru a dozen or so pgs of MG stuff but haven't stumbled upon the solution.

I have a Dell Inspiron running XP2 (updated to 3) with AT&T DSL (modem). I use IE6 and have ZoneAlarmFree.

Whenever my monitor goes blank, I have to reboot if I want to get back on the internet UNLESS I leave the internet opened to something before I wander away from the puter. If DH closes my mailbox or whatnot and I come back, it's reboot time, which takes forever b/c I haven't ever taken the time to clean up all the stuff that I should have.

Went to ZoneLabs site and poked around but didn't locate exactly what I need to do -- if that is even what causes the problem.

Any ideas on how I can stay connected if IE gets closed before the monitor goes off? Or just reset it so monitor stays on all the time?

BTW, I love MG and it save my computer's @$$ last year when I got infected. I downloaded the steps and the apps to clean it up, in case I or a friend gets hit again. **Thank you all!!**

AFAIK, it's been this way a long time. Just haven't taken the time to post the question.

Thanks for the link. I do use regular CCleaner about once every week; in fact, have another post in Malware about CCleaner today. <G>
