Have to restart to connect to the internet

Hi there. I've had this issue for a few weeks and today it finally bugged me enough to ask for help.

I've got a 3 month old Dell Inspiron 1764 that's giving me trouble in the morning when I turn it on. When I turn it on and log in for the first time, the laptop does not find a wireless connection. It just displays a red x and when I click on it to choose a network, our Linksys is not in the list.

Several times I've run the diagnostics in that window and it never finds any issues. But if I restart the laptop it finds it no problem after logging back in.

About one month ago I got a new job and had to install Skype and set up an automatic proxy connection so I can access their intranet. I'm not sure if that could have anything to do with it.

Does anyone here have any suggestions for fixing this?

Just remembered that I also got a new iPod nano 2 weeks ago so I had to install whatever new software went along with that.

My first guess would be to uninstall the Nano/software and the Skype, uninstall/reinstall the Linksys and ethernet/wireless drivers, see if your symptoms change.

 

Thanks, I'm working on trying to figure out how to do those things. I got a new router and still have the same problem and I need Skype for work so I cannot delete it. Do you know how I can delete the nano software? I see Apple and iPod stuff in my uninstall list, but nothing specifically for nano.
