I am aware that updates sometimes take time to receive, but I am still running 1809 on my Win10 computer. Should I have received the update by now?

There were hardware issues with the 1903 update that delayed it for some users but I think those issues have been fixed. If it isn't showing up in Windows Update you can manually update with the Windows 10 Update Assistant.

The upgrade assistant will tell them if the computer is ready for the update or not and give a reason why if it isn't ready. It only takes a few minutes. Sometimes the reason the update isn't available is something simple like unplugging USB devices or disabling certain software.

I can't find any upgrade assistant (or update assistant for that matter) on my computer. Searching for "update assistant" results in some seemingly unrelated responses.

Sorry about that, it is very relevant. Got distracted thinking about mum25's post in #7

I clicked on the link given by Earthling, but when I clicked on the link to the Windows Update Assistant that was on that page, nothing happened. Tried it a few times, my system just "sat there".

When I clicked on it a couple minutes were (at most) spent waiting. I find this happens regularly for me at any MS page, even if I'm already on one of their pages and just linking to another of their own pages.

Quite a few W10 users are complaining of slow responses on MS servers but no problem here.

PROBLEM SOLVED! :) Thank you for your replies.

I went ahead and allowed 1903 to install itself.

And it's working fine so far. It took around 3.5 hours to completely install on an HP Pavilion with 12GB RAM and a 1TB hard drive. I've always wondered why it takes so long, but I guess it's because the download is somewhere around 3 GB??
