I can browse the web but periodically the browser acts like it has no connection.
This is happening in both IE8 and FireFox 3.5.3.
IE will say there is a problem with the connection and FireFox will simply just not load web pages or give me an (Untitled) tab, although I can sometimes get my homepage (google) to come up no problem and even search with it but I can't load any pages in the search and sometimes I have to click the GoTo button on FireFox to get pages to load.
I have tried creating a new profile with it, running it in safe-mode (no addons), reinstalling Java/Flash player, and even uninstalling/reinstalling the browser with no luck.
It also sometimes doesn't load images on webpages.
The connection is still there because I've tried playing a few online games and tabbing between them and the browser and it was only the thing acting up.
I've ran malwarebites/SUPERanti-spyware/AVG9 Anti-virus and nothing has came up on them.
Someone please help it is getting really annoying. :p

I am on Windows XP Pro with service pack 3
AMD Sempron Processor 3000+ 1.81 GHz
    1.25 GB RAM

I just tried to load a few pages in IE8 and on the first few tries it attempted to download and save them as .html files.
On the second try it gave me this:
    Error Signature ----------------------------------------------------------
    AppName: iexplore.exe AppVer: 8.0.6001.18702 ModName: ieframe.dll
    ModVer: 8.0.6001.18828 Offset: 00033b9f

Sounds to me as though you having a few mlaware/ spyware problems and your browser is becoming part of it now have you tried restarting in safe mode, making sure all your AV's and mbam and sas are up to date first and then try running them in safe mode, see if that helps ! Failing that i suggest you move on to the malware section and get started with READ and RUN me First ! ;)

    Hi

Malware could still be a cause for this but before going down the route of running the Malware Removals Read and Run ME guide we have in our malware forum area, try some of the below.

    1. Delete temps and cookies and you can use CCleaner for this as it does a good job.

    2. Try running your PC in Safe Mode, F8 at boot and choose Safe Mode with Networking and see if the internet works ok, if it does then its possible that your security applications and more so the Firewall maybe causing this, so what are the security applications you have installed, please name all?

Then in normal mode disable your Firewall and try IE or Firefox, do they work? if so then your firewall is not confugured correctly, and to configure it, the easy way is to look in its applications menu and make sure IE and Firefox are set to Allow or whatever the application calls it.

    3. If you do have a 3rd party firewall then make sure the Windows Firewall is disabled and instructions HERE

As this is also from your post intermittent then have you checked with your ISP if they are having any issues? could run a quick speed test and all need to know is the upload speed and download and this one is good Speedtest.net

Have you turned off and then on your modem/router, as sometimes they need a reboot.

What type of internet do you have? Dial Up, ADSL or Cable? if ADSL and your PC is sharing a phoneline with many home phones then unplug all phones (if at all possible plug the PC into the main phone socket as extention cables are prone to causing flaky connections, much better if you have to extend your connection from phone scoket to modem to plug the modem.router into the main box and run a long Cat5e cable as they dont degrade like phone extentions) and just try the one connection and also try different DSL Filters as one of them could be faulty. Make sure all phones connections have a DSL fliter on them.

*do test your internet after trying each of the above to see if browsing is running ok, if not continue onto the next option.

I have ran CCleaner and wiped everything out of temp files.
It's not my connection because there are other computers on my router and browsing on them is fine, no problems whatsoever.
I am on a cable connection too by the way.
I tried to load up safe mode with networking but it wouldn't bring up any pages while browsing even after i clicked off offline mode.
I am using the built in windows firewall.

I've re-ran all the anti virus/malware/spyware removal programs in safe-mode and I will be posting them in the malware forum to see if that might be the problem.
But any additional information anyone has regarding a non-malware issue of this type would be of great help

I don't think any non malware tips are going to help you, as i stated in my last post you definitely nead to do READ & RUN ME FIRST. Malware Removal Guide and post it in the malware section of the forums, but i must point out that the malware fighters are hard at it all the time, so you must be patiant and they will get to you, but also in the meantime just go through the above link i've given and follow the instructions very thoroughly and carefully, as the procedure has to be done in ceratain ways depending on your OS ! ;)

From time to time one or two of my computers (Cable broadband, wired and wireless computers go thru the router) lose internet connection. Your computer is probably not getting an address from the router; that's why you appear not to be able to use the internet.

The easiest solution: unplug the power to the router (either pull the plug from the wall or pull the little adapter that connects to the plug from the back of the router). Let the power off for at least one minute. Plug the router back in. It will look around, see what computers need addresses and hand one out to all the computers.

I unplugged the router for 1 minute and plugged it back in.
The connection had to find the address for a minute but when it found it it was working fine for a minute, then it started doing the same thing again.
The other computers on the router are still browsing fine it seems to be just mine acting up =/

I have posted all my logs in the malware forum and I am awaiting confirmation from someone there.
But I seem to have fixed it (for the time being) by uninstalling AVG Anti-Virus 9.0.
I've been loading and refreshing random pages for about 20 minutes now with no problems loading them (even all pictures/flash/java apps load).

Maybe just by running the programs as i said, may have sorted out your problems, lets hope so and your all clear and up and running again, good luck ! ;)
