Having graphics problems after replacing a PSU

Had a power supply go bad on an old HP desktop; I replaced it with a similar PSU.

After replacing it, images on my monitor appear as if they're a watercolor painting...text shows up fine, but all images lack quite a bit of resolution.

Went into Device Manager and noticed a ! in a yellow circle next to "Other Devices - SM Bus Controller." After googling, I found a driver from HP for that issue, but for whatever reason, it does not install correctly - after DL'ing it, running it, and restarting the PC, I still get the error message for "Other Devices - SM Bus Controller." Note - I am not even sure if this is the cause of the problem.

Could the graphics card have gone bad when the PSU went out? Another guess - is it possible that a BIOS setting was re-set when the PSU went out?

Here are the specs for my PC:

OS Name Microsoft Windows XP Professional

    <snip>

Thanks in advance for any ideas on how to resolve the problem.

Thank you. I tried that a few days ago when the problem started. I was directed to AMD's driver download for older hardware that is no longer supported. Downloaded it, ran the .exe file, which said that it was installed in:

    C:\ATI\Support\10-02_legacy_xp32-64_dd_ccc

But then, when I right-click on SM Bus Controller to install the driver, I get a pop-up message saying:

"The location you specified does not contain any device information files. Please enter another location or uncheck the 'Include this location in the search' box"

Then, I tried installing the Radeon Xpress 1150 driver from another location on my computer. When I clicked on it, I got a warning sign saying that it might not be the correct driver; I tried installing it anyway and the computer crashed, saying that it was a "major" problem.

Any other ideas? Thanks in advance.

    A few considerations:

You might make sure the video card is seated properly . . . also, is there a power connection required for the card?

Was the power supply you used to replace the old one rated at the same wattage as the old one?

It appears that the problem is that I'm missing the driver for the chipset - it's an ATI Xpress 200.

I've downloaded the driver several times, but when I attempt to install it via Device Manager, I always get a message of "cannot find the necessary software."

Is there another way to install the driver?

    Thanks in advance.

    Update:

I've found a "backdoor" way to install the driver for the Xpress 200 SM Bus. However, when I try to install it, I get a warning message, saying that Microsoft cannot positively ID if this driver matches up with the hardware; I click "Install anyway" and it crashes my computer during the install.

Question: if I went out and bought a PCI Express graphics card and installed it, would it circumvent the problem? Or would the display still be fuzzy due to the SM Bus Controller driver missing?

    Thanks in advance.

Update - went out and bought a cheap PCI Express card (GeForce 210), installed it, and everything seems to work perfectly now.

Am I correct in assuming that when the old PSU went down, it somehow damaged the integrated graphics card in the process?
