So i'm having very frustrating problems with my mouse. My computer acts like it's not even plugged in. But when I first turn on my desktop the light turns on, on the mouse and then shuts back off after about 15 seconds. I'm 100% the mouse does work though and I have used it with this computer before. Also I have recently had some viruses on the computer, not sure if those messed with anything or not. So if anyone has any ideas please let me know. If you need any information on my computer let me know, not sure what info to put down. Thanks

Hi NF1990 and welcome to MG. What type of mouse connection do you have ie. USB or PS ? Does your compter fully boot, have you tried another mouse ?? you say [ But when I first turn on my desktop the light turns on, on the mouse and the shuts back after 15seconds] is that just the mouse or the computer. What opearating system are you usin XP/Vista/Win7 and a little info on your motherboard/processor/memory.

It's a USB mouse, and my computer does fully boot up, it's just the light on the mouse turns on when I first boot up my computer and the mouse light shuts off about half way. I have tried another mouse, yes. And i'm using an XP.

Can you get hold of and connect a PS connecting Mouse thereby you can at least get into Device Manager and see if any issues with your USB Ports. The PS mouse is the one that connects next to your keyboard at the rear/top of case ( assuming that your keyboard is not USB as well). So look in the Device Manager under Mice and other pointing devices and Universal Serial Bus Controllers to see if any yellow exclamation/question marks are present. If so uninstall the driver by right clicking the reboot and see if that fixes it then post back. You said you tried another mouse but did not tell us the outcome so I assume that one did not work as well ???

Try a re-build usually solves anything!
