    Here's the pre-info:

    New System, parts ordered seperate and pieced together.

    Intel D945GTP (Micro-ATX, executive edition)
    Pentium D 820 (2.8)
    Sapphire GTO2 (ATI Powered x800) Video Card (PCI-Express)
    1 GB DD2 single channel RAM (PQI)
    200 GB Hard Drive (ata)
    40x Cd-RW (Older)
    Aspire Cube Case w/420W Power Supply

    Here's the problem(s):

    1. System will shutdown without warning.
    a. During Game Play (Battlefield 2) and also non-game play (installing drivers, heavy loads, etc)
    2. Fan Light in bottom of power supply flickers.
    3. Intel Desktop Utilities continues to notify me (Failure)that the +12V is out of range.
    4. I tap the case above the power supply(lightly, like a keystroke on the keyboard) and the power fails (system restarts)

    Attempt(s):

    1. I have disconnected and reseated all power cables on each component of the system including the motherboard and video card.
    2. I have reseated the videocard, tightened all screws, rechecked all cables.
    3. The main power cord for the system (From house receptacle to Power Supply) has a loose fit, but I have tried 4 different cords(including the one shipped with case/POwer supply) but all have same result.

    Assumptions (yes I know.. the mother of all...):

    I am assuming that the power supply has some internal problem?
    I have read numerous complaints about ASPIRE and have arranged a return on the powersupply and case. I'd like to get opinions on this first though, as i'd hate to return it if it's not the problem.

    Any advice is greatly appreciated. I'll post more info if you request it.

    Thank you.

    aspire is notorious for pairing very bad PSU's with their cases. You seem right.

    time for a new PSU.
