    Hi

Try downloading a file to the desktop and when downloading dont choose Run but Save, try this app HERE as a test.

Then if it will not run to install, then please give us the full error message?

Also what security software have you got installed, disable it to test, also boot to Safe Mode with Networking (F8 at boot) and try to download same file and see if that works.

Are you using any download manager application and also what Browser you using to download files? if IE try Firefox, if Firefox try IE.

That's because you did not indicate where you want downloads save. The default is my documents; unless you change it, every thing gets downloaded to that place.

In FF (3.6.10), you click on Tools/Options then the General tab. In the middle of the box there is a download section. This allows you to change where you want things downloaded.

    Hi

Did you try and download with IE and the link to Ccleaner wasnt for you to install as a needed application but just I had it in my list of apps to link too as a test.

that was correct it was just a test to see if it could be down loaded but am on firefox i changed the download location from my docs to program file in my computer and still got the binary that was suggested by someone else . i did not do the install was done by someone else --this problem is on my mothers computer

When setting that download location.....navigate all the way up to "Desktop" and then SAVE the setting.
There is no option to save a file as a Program file.
That would be a disaster, if the file was a Word Doc or a PDF File.

Close and restart Firefox and you should always get your Saved Downloads on your desktop regardless of the file type. That's much handier than having them stuck away in some obscure folder somewhere.

When I install Firefox on a customer's PC, I always set it up that way.
I also install a series of 'Tweaks' to speed it up.

Resist the temptation to install 'Tool Bars' on your browser. They take up valuable resources and can be security loopholes. Just say "NO" to toolbars.

    Good Luck,
    the Shadow :cool
