I'm not sure if this is a hardware issue, I'm just guessing it is. When I turn my computer on, after it goes through the Windows XP loading screen, an error message appears for a split second and it makes a beep sound when gets to the user screen where it loads my settings and it gets stuck there. It won't go to my desktop, it just keeps trying to load my settings. I have to restart my computer five times just to get it working.

    Try checking your ram
Different beep sounds are often made at atartup, and they give clues as to the reason- Usually you get a single beep, as it passes post- sometimes 2/3 beeps, or more will indicate the fault
We woiuld need to know thw motherboard that you have

How do I figure that out?

If you download Everest 220 from majorgeeks, - a small unobtrusive program that will tell you much about your system.
Also beep codes could be different dependant on which syatem is on your computer

Go to download this pdf, from AMI support, and scroll down to section 8.
It might be difficult to grasp first off, but read it through a few times, and come back, as someone will try to help further
