having problems with a ide to sata conveter

i have recently changed my primery hard drive to a sata and it works fine, but i want to conect my old ide hardrive just as some extra storage. so i tryed using one sata and a ide but it dident work, (can you use one ide and sata??) so i bought a ide to sata converter, and i have conected it up corectly i think and i can get it to work. the computer can not detect it in bios or in the my compuer window.

so i am stuck what to do, could the converter be broken ???

Yes, they work together. Enter the BIOS and select your sata drive as the boot drive.....on the IDE interface have your drive jumpered as master!

Should be OK from here! (serial ata does not use master and slave as setup as they are configured on their own channel)

hi thanks, i have finally got my computer to recognise the hard drive in the bios, but i still cant acces it in windows. i can run speed tests but i cant get any info off it/ any ideas????

 

will it be a problem in the bios???? i have an ausus kn8 mother board with

american megatrends bios verion 1009

i have been trying to solve this my self, do i need to cofigure a RAID to get it a sata and a ide to work together???
