Having Problems with ScanDisk

I am running on WindowsXP Home edition and just recently I've had a problem running my ScanDisk. It starts, but only goes to about 4-5% and then stops and boots up. My computer is way overdue for a scan. I defragmented with no problems. Can someone please help me?

Download dft. It will run on a floppy or they have an ISO image if you know how to burn it. Boot to the diskette or cd, and have them do an intensive scan of your hd. It's much better that scandisk.

 

Did U try to go to Start Run and type "chkdsk c: /f " without the quotemarks?
When I scandisk that way XP Pro tells me that the C Drive is unable to do the job at that moment but asks me if I want to do it on next bootup. I say yes and at bootup away it goes before firing up into Windows.
