having problems with windows update

Hello im having a few difficulty's with windows update.
I recently updated windows and at the same time i updated my graphics card and comodo security and thats where the problems started.

After my comp rebooted whenever i try and check for new updates i get the message"windows update cannot check for updates ,because the service is not running,you may need to restart your computer"

So thinking it was a issue with either the comodo or graphics card update i uninstalled both but still cannot get updates to work.I then ran the microsoft fix it tool which says it has repaired the problem but it hasnt and also followed a restart/reregister guide which didnt help either.

After many hours of scans with diffrent anti virus/malware scanners i dont think im infected and cannot find any solution to my problem.I even tried system restore but for some reason i have only got restore points after the updates i installed which failed when i tried anyway.

so thought id post here to see if anybody has any suggestions or is able to help me with my problem.
