    Hi all,
I'm in need of some major assistance! I consider myself pretty tech-saavy, and yet the issue of sharing media from Windows 7 to my XBox 360 is BAFFLING me! I am currently running Home Premium, and trying to share via WMP 12 (comes with the system). Every time I try to access the "Select Music" option on my XBox it takes forever to read anything, then finally finds my computer and gives me an error of it possibly being blocked by a firewall.

Sounds pretty self-explanatory, but quite misleading. I went through and disabled Windows Firewall, even got rid of my own anti-virus, and used the Norton Removal Tool to make sure any leftover fragments of the pre-loaded Norton weren't causing the issues. I went into "Services" and enabled just about anything you could think of that would be the culprit.

I also tried using TVersity as I had read it was a cinch to configure and set up sharing, yet I got the SAME DARN ERRORS! I've tried just about anything known to man, or at least that I've found online to be honest. I've gone in and checked the homegroup options, made sure my network discovery was on all that simplistic jazz. I suppose I'm just waiting for that certain someone with the magical answer to come along and blow my mind! I would be forever indebted for a working solution.

    Greetings, ilbillval.

Is this a wired or wireless connection? And, I'm assuming you've updated through Xbox Live?

Yup, I've updated the Xbox. It's a wireless connection. I use a Linksys WRT54G at the moment and my laptop is a Toshiba Satellite running Windows 7 Home Premium. The funny thing is, at one time there were two other computers here on the same network, a Vista laptop and an XP desktop which both had no problem whatsoever being detected by the Xbox.

Yet no matter anything or what I've tried, I have not once been able to get anything to play through the Xbox from 7.

Check your IP address - from what I understand, the addy must be within these ranges:

    10.0.0.0–10.255.255.255
    169.254.0.0–169.254.255.255
    172.16.0.0–172.31.255.255
    192.168.0.0–192.168.255.255

Could be a problem if the Linksys has assigned you some funky IP.

Taken from my ipconfig via command prompt: ip4 addy - 192.168.1.103

Okay so I've now determined that it works FINE if I plug the Laptop in via ethernet cable to the router. AHH I must say now I'm even more confused! My computer can connect to the internet FINE wirelessly yet for some reason cannot share media to my xbox! HELP!
